A Personal Plea To The Jewish Community

Stop complaining about Jew hatred on social media. Do something about it instead!

I assume that all of you know that I am a writer.

What you may not know is that while writing about the Jewish community and Israel is extremely important to me, and I am grateful to have the ability (B”H), it’s not my “main” gig.

My “day job” is as the co-founder and co-CEO of a social media platform.

The platform is called “Moptu” - and I would not be surprised, or shocked, if you haven’t heard of us. Yet incredibly (to me), my business partner and I have been at it for 13 years.

The short version of what Moptu (named after my childhood dog) does: we are the only platform on earth designed specifically to share articles you read from all over the internet in one central place. They can then be organized and shared with your followers.

We are doing for article sharing what Pinterest/Instagram did for photos. No one else does that.

As a result, we are a HUGE source of crowd gathered knowledge. I don’t think I need to explain to you the enormous potential that implies.

The reason though that you haven’t heard of us is because while we are great at being creative, and at programming (the entire site was designed, coded, and is run right now by just the two of us), we are really bad at networking and schmoozing the right people.

All of the social platforms that you’ve ever heard of began with founders who were either very rich, or very well connected (most were both).

We aren’t.

What we are though is extremely committed, relentlessly proud Jews. When we began, we had the choice of being openly and proudly Jewish and Zionist or hiding behind our anonymity. It was never a choice that either of us had to make, because consequences or not, proudly Jewish and Zionist have always been who we are in every fiber of our beings.

But the reaction from the tech/investment world has been a non-reaction. 13 years in, and we have never even had a meeting with serious investors. We’ve had lots of meetings, with con-men, shysters, and people who absolutely refused to listen to what we actually do, instead of what they wanted us to be doing.

In the world where connections are the absolute key to success – we have none.

Last year, the Jerusalem Post did a story on us, recognizing us as the only social platform truly dedicated to fighting misinformation about Israel, and treating antisemitism with the seriousness it deserves. That became especially meaningful to us after October 7.

We need your help. Imagine if there had been a major social platform over the past 13 years fighting back against the endless parade of anti-Jewish garbage, garbage which EVERY other social platform tolerates? How important of a tool would that be in advocating for our community? For Israel? Against those who wish to destroy us?

While we are both doing our best to keep fighting that fight, with Moptu, with my Substack, and in our personal lives – we need your help if we’re going to keep going. We need to have the doors open for us that the Jewish community is so famous for (which have been totally elusive for us). If you know ANYONE with the resources to invest in our platform, or who can connect us (in reality) to those who do, we need to know.

We may not be the obvious choice, and it may be more attractive to assume that a Jewish owned clone of the more famous sites would be a better choice, but we are literally the only choice, and we recognized over a decade ago that information wars would be fought mostly through the written word.


I see constant griping, complaining, and anxiety over the fact that the “big guys” in social media are, at best, owned by people with no real connection to the Jewish world, so the rising problem of antisemitism has zero urgency for them, while at worst: they may even agree with the Jew haters.

There is an alternative – and we’re it.

So, what’s better than complaining? Doing!

We are the only Jewish, Zionist, capable owners of a social platform on earth, and we’ve sacrificed more than I can write about here to keep this going for almost a decade and a half. We’ve proven our dedication and now we need your help.

Our track record, vision, and commitment speak for themselves.

It would be insane not to support the best chance the Jewish community has to make a platform like ours, owned by people with our values (and your values), successful. While we started with the goal of making money from this, our primary goal was ALWAYS to contribute to the world, and primarily to be a place where information can be shared freely. The world has changed a lot during our time doing this, and we know that our greatest value now is as a platform, the only platform, where Jews can fight back on an even playing field.

Lastly, because we built the site before we got funding (which, in retrospect, could have been a backward way of doing this) we have already more than achieved proof of concept. We recently had over 1,000,000 monthly active users, and our users have posted a total of 724,000 articles with 134 MILLION views during our history.

I have two pages on our platform, my personal page, and a page I called “Stand With Israel,” which I started way before October 7 to provide people with news, education, and facts about Israel. I have posted 6,800 articles to that page and it has over 7.2 million views. I don’t know about you, but my Facebook, Instagram, and X feeds don’t come even minutely close to getting that kind of traffic.

We also invented the idea of Medium/Substack (which would have been a functionality of Moptu) but with minute resources (we’ve financed everything personally), couldn’t make that a reality. We have a long list of other ideas which no one else is doing right now.
